St Austell Amateur Operatic Society proudly presents the Cornish premiere of the award-winning musical Come From Away, an uplifting true story of kindness in extraordinary circumstances.
Set in the days following 11 September 2001, the show tells how 38 planes were diverted to the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, leaving 7,000 passengers stranded far from home. What could have been a moment of fear and uncertainty became something remarkable, as the people of Gander opened their homes and hearts to complete strangers.
Told by a 12-strong ensemble cast, performers seamlessly play multiple roles, bringing to life both the townsfolk and the “come from aways” whose lives were changed forever. With minimal set, fast-paced storytelling and a vibrant folk-inspired score, the show flows with energy, humour and heartfelt emotion.
Rather than focusing on tragedy, Come From Away celebrates community, compassion and the best of humanity, making this a powerful, joyous and unforgettable theatre experience.
