Experience the incredible true story that captivated the world! Come From Away lands in St Austell! Set in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, this heart warming and uplifting musical tells the tale of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small Newfoundland community that welcomed them with open arms. With a stirring Celtic-inspired score and a cast of unforgettable characters, Come From Away is a powerful reminder of the kindness of strangers and the resilience of the human spirit. Moving, funny and deeply touching, this Olivier and Tony Award-winning production is not to be missed. Book now!

St Austell Amateur Operatic Society proudly presents the Cornish premiere of the award-winning musical Come From Away, an uplifting true story of kindness in extraordinary circumstances.

Set in the days following 11 September 2001, the show tells how 38 planes were diverted to the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, leaving 7,000 passengers stranded far from home. What could have been a moment of fear and uncertainty became something remarkable, as the people of Gander opened their homes and hearts to complete strangers.

Told by a 12-strong ensemble cast, performers seamlessly play multiple roles, bringing to life both the townsfolk and the “come from aways” whose lives were changed forever. With minimal set, fast-paced storytelling and a vibrant folk-inspired score, the show flows with energy, humour and heartfelt emotion.

Rather than focusing on tragedy, Come From Away celebrates community, compassion and the best of humanity, making this a powerful, joyous and unforgettable theatre experience.

We now call The Keay Theatre in St Austell our home, staging our annual production each April during the Easter holidays. With 97 musicals performed and 16 awards won in the past decade, our society is proud of its long standing reputation for high quality, entertaining shows.

Our group is built on strong family values, with generations of performers taking part together. We currently have 13 committee members and are honoured to include 15 Life Members, whose decades of dedication embody the spirit of our society.

From the early days of Gilbert & Sullivan to more recent favourites like Sister Act and Shrek, we continue to evolve while celebrating the joy of live theatre. Thank you for supporting St Austell AOS – your presence helps keep musical theatre alive in our town.
